Tricks: Train your cat to be one of your friends who listen to you

Cats, like dogs, can learn to follow your orders. Although it must be borne in mind, the training process is similar. However, the cat is a much more independent animal. It will also not be as easy to train an adult and a sedentary cat as a young one.

Pawing, reaching for the ball, or rolling on the floor are just a few of the things a cat can learn. If you have a great connection with your cat, you can include these few tips to share more time with your friend. You will discover how nice it is to know that the cat brings its ball or give you the paw when you return home.

What can I teach my cat?

Cat, Training, Domestic Cat, Animal

As for dogs, the things we can teach our cats are endless. It really depends on how imaginative and helpful your cat is. The most common tricks are to sit, paw, turn on themselves. However, a cat can do other things like going to the bathroom on its own or stepping on our hands.

The limits are set by you and your cat, so be reasonable. Don’t ask your cat to do any unnatural postures or actions it can’t understand. That’s between you and the cat. According to the confidence between you, you can do more or fewer tricks.

Don’t forget that it should be fun to teach your cat. Never be mad at it. It can be easily scared. You must be patient and supportive. Rewarding behaviors that we want to preserve.

Give the paw

Teach your cat to paw step by step:
With the prize hidden in your hand, stretch your arm in front of the cat. Before you can show it the food so that it wants to eat it.

Say “Hello”, “paw”, whichever command you choose.
Wait until the cat tries to touch your hand with his paw. If he tries to catch it with his mouth, move your hand away and say, “No.”
When the cat paws your hand, give him his reward.

After several sessions, you will begin to do it without hesitation. Perhaps at first, it will be difficult to relate the command, but it is normal. You can remove rewards over time. Although it is always helpful to repeat a session and the rewards from time to time.

Once the cat has mastered the trick, you can bump his hand into yours at any time. Even if you don’t get food every time, it’s a quick, easy move that you’ll learn right away.

Turn on itself

We can teach you to roll over before receiving a prize, or you can lie on the ground and turn.

Simple turn: The first is quite simple. The cat will move with all four legs touching the floor. For our cat to turn around, we simply turn our hand over his head, showing him the reward. We’re going to draw the movement of turns through the air. Your cat will follow the movement of your hand with her eyes and her body. Use the words “Turn around”, “Come back ” or whatever you prefer. Repeat it several times in different sessions.

Turning on the ground

Cat'S Paw, Cat, Paw, Kitten, Pet, Animal, Domestic Cat

This trick is harder than the previous one, but everything can be achieved with patience and effort. The same technique will be used as in the previous case. The only thing we must teach our cat before is to lie on the ground. Once it is in that position, we will repeat the turn with our hands around it.

Your kitten will follow the movement with his eyes, and in the end, the cat will turn his whole body. Remember to always reward your cat. Especially during training

Find a toy

Cat, Toys, Mouse, Break, Rest

This trick is entertaining, and with it, your cat will exercise indoors, perfect for overweight cats. The trick is to throw it a toy that the cat likes and get it to give it back to us. It should be a mouse-like object made of cloth or a softball. The necessary thing is that your cat can take it in its mouth easily and does not break easily. You can pick the one you already like very much or try to introduce a new object.
As you know, cats like to stalk, and just like dogs, they like to hunt things. It will be easier to teach that trick to a young cat since they are more active, but anybody can learn.

Steps to follow:
Show them the toy and move it forward. You’ll notice his pupils are dilating, and he’s already in a stalker position. Otherwise, you should give it to him several times and reward him. Throw the toy. Try to keep it as long as possible. If your cat doesn’t have enough space to run, the cat probably won’t pick it up and watch you throw it. Your cat will run to play.

First of all, the cat will play alone with it. Take the toy and repeat the pitch. A lot of cats will already pick up the toy themselves. Simply re-launching it is a sufficient incentive. If not, reward it each time it offers you or brings you the toy. It’s a game between the two of you. Your cat will love it, and it’s a great way to work out indoors. Outside, it can also be made, but your cat may not feel completely safe running outside. Once the cat understands the game, the cat will take the toy to the sofa or bed.

The clicker is a training tool that is generally used with dogs but is equally useful with cats. Other animals, like dolphins, are also coached with it. This is a small device that transmits a “Click” feature when pressed. It is used as the second conditioned reinforcement. Noise is connected to the behavior we want. Usually, our cat will associate it with food. If we use the clicker with rewards, our cat will associate the sound with good behavior.

The tool is useful and easy to use. Just use it to train your cat. Never in other situations or to attract your cat’s attention. You should just use it when your cat does what you want and deserves a reward. Otherwise, you may confuse the cat and make it lose interest.
